A 10-page suicide note was recovered.
Police also recovered a 10-page suicide note from the scene. In it, he accused the Nambiar family of harassment and instigating his suicide. The note alleged that the family, along with some GBA officials, harassed him, alleging that he had not constructed the building according to the approved plan and violated regulations. He was demanded 2 million rupees to hush up the case.
Murali's mother, Lakshmi Govindaraju, filed a criminal complaint at the Whitefield police station against Shashi and Usha, alleging they attempted to extort ₹20 lakh from her son and, when he refused, harassed him and drove him to suicide.
What did the mother of the deceased say in her written complaint?
Police have registered a case against Shashi and Usha under sections 108 and 308 of the IPC. Murali had purchased land in Nalluhalli from a close relative in Nambiyar in 2018. Murali's mother stated in her written complaint that when her son began building a house on the land, Usha and Shashi began harassing and torturing him. They repeatedly demanded 20 lakh rupees from him. When her son refused, Usha complained to BBMP officials, who came to the construction site and harassed her son.
She further stated in her complaint, "My son told me that today (Wednesday) was the deadline to pay 20 lakh rupees. My son told me that Usha and Shashi were harassing him. With this in mind, he left our house (Brookbong Layout) around 6 a.m. He reached the house under construction and hanged himself on the second floor. I demand legal action against Usha Nambiar and Shashi Nambiar for inciting my son to suicide through harassment."
