News Topical, Digital Desk : A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Friday. Following this, a flood of people poured onto Gaza's coastal road on Friday. People breathed a sigh of relief as peace returned to the area.
Thousands of Palestinians returned to Gaza City with their children and remaining belongings. One of them, Ismail Zaida of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, returned home with both relief and pain in his eyes. He said, “Only traces of my house remain, and the entire neighborhood is buried in rubble. Nearby houses have collapsed, electricity and water are out, and the streets resemble graveyards.”
Ceasefire brokered by Donald Trump
The ceasefire, brokered by US President Donald Trump, requires Hamas to release 20 live Israeli hostages within 72 hours, in exchange for Israel releasing 250 Palestinian prisoners and 1,700 detainees.
Israel has announced the withdrawal of its troops from 53 percent of the territory. Now, 600 relief trucks will arrive in Gaza every day. Amidst the ruins of lives, people are hoping that peace may finally return to Gaza.
