News Topical, Digital Desk : The Delhi Police has filed an affidavit opposing Umar Khalid's bail in the Delhi riots case. It states that the Delhi violence was a conspiracy hatched with the aim of a regime change. In its affidavit, the Delhi Police explained how Umar Khalid and his associates systematically planned the riots and violent protests. It then added a note stating that international theory refers to such organized and sponsored movements as regime change campaigns.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the bail pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, and other accused in the Delhi riots case on October 31st. In an affidavit filed with the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police stated that there is strong evidence against Umar Khalid and the other accused and that they should not be granted bail. The Delhi Police stated that these individuals were involved in a conspiracy to systematically incite riots in the country.

The accused wanted riots during Trump's India visit.

In its affidavit, the Delhi Police stated that these individuals are accused of an international conspiracy. They wanted to incite riots during Donald Trump's visit to India to tarnish India's image. Their goal was to defame India globally. The mention of US President Donald Trump in the chats indicates that the conspiracy was to create an international narrative. Fifty-three people died in the Delhi riots. The Delhi Police maintains that this violence was pre-planned.

Under UAPA, jail is the only rule.

Delhi Police said that in such cases, jail is the rule, not bail. Delhi Police says that the accused themselves are delaying the trial, they are postponing the hearing by making excuses again and again. 39 dates were fixed in the proceedings under 207 CrPC. Police claims that the accused deliberately delayed in taking the case files. Delhi High Court also accepted in its decision that the delay in the trial is happening because of the accused. Delhi Police said that the arguments of 900 witnesses are false, there are only 100-150 important witnesses, whose testimony can be completed soon.

A group was formed to incite riots.

In its affidavit, the Delhi Police named Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Meeran Haider, Shifa-ur-Rehman, Gulfisha Fatima, and Mohammad Salim Khan as part of the conspiracy. The Delhi Police stated that the motive behind these protests was to change the government, not simply to protest. The Delhi Protest Support Group was created to carry out the conspiracy and the WhatsApp group was also created for this purpose.

Umar Khalid's role is clear

In a secret meeting in Seelampur, Umar Khalid instigated women to collect knives, bottles, acid, stones, and chili powder. When local women failed to assist in the desired violence, Umar Khalid summoned Bangladeshi women from Jahangirpuri and sent them to Jafrabad. Witness statements and photographs confirm Umar Khalid's role. He, along with other conspirators, orchestrated the first phase of the Delhi riots from December 13 to 20, 2019. He instigated mosque imams to read the inflammatory content of the pamphlets in their sermons (khutba).

Delhi was targeted to spread violence across the country.

In his speech at Jamia in December 2019, he said that what happened was just a spark. He gave a plan for a chakka jam so that essential services like milk and water would be stopped in Delhi. In his speech at Asansol (January 2020), he said that the Constitution of India and the state are anti-Muslim and instigated Muslims to separate from India. He had links with radical organizations who distributed inflammatory pamphlets and gathered crowds in Muslim areas. He targeted Delhi to spread both violence and narrative across the country.
