News Topical, Digital Desk : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given a big message to the whole world from the soil of China. During the meeting of Defence Ministers in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), he mentioned Operation Sindoor in his address and said that the centres of terrorism are no longer safe and we will not hesitate to target them.
What did Rajnath say on terrorism, peace and security?
At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in China's port city Qingdao, the Defence Minister spoke on many important issues including terrorism, peace and security. He said - I believe that the biggest challenges in our region are related to lack of peace, security and trust. He said that the root cause of these problems is increasing terrorism, radicalism and extremism.
Mentioned the Pahalgam terrorist attack
Referring to the Pahalgam attack, Rajnath Singh said, "On 22 April 2025, the terrorist group 'The Resistance Front' carried out a brutal and heinous attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. 26 innocent civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed. The victims were shot dead after asking their religion. The Resistance Front, a proxy organisation of the UN-designated terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack."
Why was Operation Sindoor needed?
He said, 'The pattern of the Pahalgam terror attack matches the previous terror attacks by Lashkar-e-Taiba in India. Exercising its right to prevent terrorism and prevent cross-border terror attacks, India successfully carried out Operation Sindoor on 07 May 2025 to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure across the border.
A direct target on Pakistan
Without naming Pakistan, Rajnath Singh said - "...some countries use cross-border terrorism as a policy and provide shelter to terrorists. There should be no place for such double standards. SCO should not hesitate to criticise such countries."
have to work together with each other
Rajnath Singh said, "India believes that reformed multilateralism can help create mechanisms for dialogue and cooperation to prevent conflict among countries. No country, no matter how big and powerful, can act alone. In fact, the basic idea of global order or multilateralism is the notion that nations have to work together with each other for their mutual and collective benefit. This also reflects our age-old Sanskrit proverb 'Sarve Jana Sukhino Bhavantu', which means peace and prosperity for all."
The world is going through big changes
Earlier at the beginning of his address, he said, "It is a pleasure for me to be in Qingdao to attend the SCO Defence Ministers' Meeting. I would like to thank my hosts for their warm hospitality. I would like to congratulate Belarus on joining the SCO family as a new member. The world we live in is undergoing a major change. Globalisation, which once brought us together, is now losing its momentum. The weakening of multilateral systems has made it difficult to address urgent challenges ranging from maintaining peace and security to rebuilding economies after the pandemic."
