News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that South Africa should no longer be among the G20 major economies, reiterating that he will not attend the G20 leaders' summit later this month when the African country will chair the group.

At a business forum in Miami, Donald Trump announced that he would not attend the upcoming G20 summit in Johannesburg. He argued that South Africa should no longer be in the G20 because of the repression taking place under its leadership, particularly the violation of human rights against white South African farmers.

Why is Trump angry?

Trump's statement comes as South Africa is holding the G20 presidency for the first time and preparing to host the summit on November 22-23. The South African government has categorically rejected Trump's allegations.

Trump said Miami has been a haven for generations for those fleeing communist tyranny in South Africa. "I mean, take a look at what's happening in different parts of South America. Take a look at what's happening in different parts of the world," Trump said.

Vice President JD Vance is scheduled to attend the G-20 leaders' meeting in Soweto on November 22-23.
