
News Topical, Digital Desk : In Uttar Pradesh, the government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has planned to provide solar energy to every village through one lakh 'Surya Sakhis'. In an official statement issued by the state government on Tuesday, it was said that the government is continuously working towards making the daughters and women of the state empowered and self-reliant.
At the same time, many schemes are being run to increase the participation of women in rural development. Under this, the government is going to connect women of self-help groups with 'Mahila Surya Sakhi' to increase their participation in solar energy based schemes including solar panels, lighting, EV charging.
A program called Decentralized Energy will be organized
In this sequence, a program called 'Decentralized Energy for Strong Economic Status of Women' (DRE) will be organized on Wednesday under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi. DRE is to be extended to one lakh women-led enterprises by the year 2030.
Through this, on one hand, there will be rapid growth in the field of solar energy, on the other hand, rural and urban women will become financially strong. Experts from the solar energy sector from India and abroad will participate in this program and will draw a blueprint for bringing DRE to reality.
What did the officials say?
Deepa Ranjan, Director of Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (UPSRLM), said that under the guidance of the Chief Minister, many schemes have been started for women, in which promoting DRE is an important step. She said that the DRE initiative by Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission is a new step towards empowering women self-help groups.
According to Deepa Ranjan, DRE is related to off-grid i.e. mini grid energy solutions, this is an important initiative for people living in rural and remote areas. He said that in areas where there is a lot of difficulty in reaching the traditional electricity network, DRE will provide clean, cheap and reliable energy to homes and communities.
The director said that to make the program successful, the department has partnered with many important organizations. These include organizations like PCI India, HCBC, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, Gates Foundation India and Prerna Ojas. These organizations will play an important role in implementing DRE in 20 districts of the state. With the help of these organizations, an inclusive and flexible clean energy system will be created for women.
