News Topical, Digital Desk : In Uttar Pradesh, running around offices and standing in long lines for government services is becoming a thing of the past. To accelerate the "Digital India" campaign, the Uttar Pradesh government has made "mobile governance" (m-governance) its primary tool. Today, the entire secretariat is contained within the smartphone of the average citizen.

One app, many features

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched dozens of apps, such as "Jansunwai," "m-Kavach," and "UPCOP." Currently, more than 600 state government services are available via mobile. Whether it's applying for income, caste, or residence certificates, paying electricity bills, or filing an e-FIR with the police, all are possible via mobile in a matter of minutes.

Success story in numbers

Mobile governance has not only expedited the process but also increased transparency:

Grievance Redressal: Crores of complaints have been resolved so far through the 'Jansunwai-IGRS' portal and app, which can be tracked by citizens directly on their mobile phones.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): The money from various government schemes is going directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries, information about which is received by them through SMS on their mobile phones.

Health and Education:  Health records and educational content are now available 24x7 on mobile through the 'ABHA' app and 'Diksha' portal.

Future technology: AI and chatbots

The Uttar Pradesh government is now incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into mobile governance. Several departments have launched their own chatbots, where citizens can ask questions in their local language and receive instant information. This is especially helpful for those who previously struggled with filling out complex forms.

security and privacy

Along with the expansion of mobile governance, the government has also placed a strong focus on data security. All government apps are equipped with two-factor authentication and secure data encryption to protect citizens' personal information.

Mobile governance has not only transformed the way government functions in Uttar Pradesh but has also strengthened democracy. The distance between the government and the public has now narrowed. This technological empowerment is rapidly moving Uttar Pradesh towards its goal of a "developed India."
