News Topical, Digital Desk : A 35-year-old woman in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly slit her wrists inside a police station after her lover, her husband's nephew, refused to continue their relationship. Police said the incident occurred on Saturday at the Qutubnagar police outpost in the district's Pisawan police station area.

Station House Officer Virendra Singh Tomar stated that the woman, Pooja Mishra, arrived at the police station with a blade and injured herself with it. He added that police immediately took her to the district hospital, and her condition is stated to be stable. According to police, Pooja married Virendra nine years ago and they have two sons, ages five and seven. Her husband works in Delhi, and a few years ago, she called in her nephew, Alok (23), to help with the work.

During this time, Pooja and Alok developed a relationship. Police said that when Virendra learned of their affair, he sent Alok back to the village. However, Pooja later left her husband and children and moved in with Alok in Bareilly, where he drove an autorickshaw.

Alok had distanced himself from Pooja.

Police said Alok distanced himself from Pooja and returned to his native village. Angered by this, Pooja also went to Sitapur, where they had a fight and then filed a police complaint. "At the police station, when Alok refused to continue the relationship, Pooja suddenly slit her wrist," the SHO said.

Sitapur police, on the X handle, stated that the woman is out of danger and both parties received counseling after the incident. Police added that no official complaint has been filed in the matter.
