He said this at a program in Pune organized on the 26th foundation day of the party. The NCP was split in 2023. He praised the party workers for taking the party forward despite the challenges.

‘Some people joined other ideologies’

Sharad Pawar said, "The party faced some challenges but you kept taking the party forward without getting discouraged. There was a division in the party. We never thought that the party would split but it happened." He said, "Some people joined other ideologies and this division increased. I do not want to talk about it today but those who remained loyal to the party remained so because of the ideology of our party." He said that a different picture will emerge in the upcoming elections.

"If we stay united, power will come automatically"

Further, he said, "Don't pay attention to who has left or who has joined. If we remain united and committed to the common people, we will not face any problem." He said that many party workers are dedicated to public service and they are the real strength of the party. He said, "Don't worry about power. If we remain united, power will come automatically. I can see this possibility in the state."

Big statement regarding municipal elections

Sharad Pawar said that municipal elections are going to be held in two to three months, so the party leadership will talk to NCP (SP) representatives in every district and decide whether to contest the elections independently or in alliance. He said, "We have to work on this and think about how to give opportunities to the youth and also see how we can field women in municipal and local body elections, as 50 percent reservation is fixed for them.

'The party will create history by bringing in new leadership'

Pawar also said that the NCP (SP) will work to prepare a new generation of party workers and leaders in the state. The party will create history by bringing new leadership in the state.

The NCP founded by Sharad Pawar split in July 2023 when his nephew Ajit Pawar joined the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government. The party's name and its election symbol were given to the Ajit Pawar faction while the faction led by the former Union Agriculture Minister was named NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar).
