Sambhal: Zafar Ali appeared in court regarding illegal construction in Jama Masjid, accused of installing railing without permission:

Sambhal News: Zafar Ali, president of Shahi Jama Masjid Committee of Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, was brought from Moradabad jail to Chandausi in Sambhal district court under tight police security. Where he was produced in the civil court.

A warrant was issued against Zafar Ali for installing railings on the stairs of Jama Masjid without permission. Zafar Ali was presented in the Civil Court of Sambhal on Tuesday. Heavy police force was deployed in view of security.

The case was registered in 2018 on the complaint of the ASI.
The police had registered the case in 2018 at Kotwali Sambhal on the complaint of the ASI and in this case, the police had filed a chargesheet against the mosque committee. In the chargesheet, the police had expressed apprehension of deteriorating law and order and said that the people of the mosque committee could not be arrested.

Now when Jama Masjid Committee's chief Zafar Ali was arrested in the Sambhal violence case, court proceedings have also started in this 6-year-old case. Due to this, Zafar Ali was produced in Sambhal court today. A warrant was issued against the chief of the mosque Zafar Ali in the case of installing steel railings on the stairs of Jama Masjid without the permission of ASI in 2018.

Allegation of installing steel railing in the mosque without prior permission
ASI had alleged that steel railings had been installed on the stairs of the Jama Masjid without any prior permission, which has damaged the historicity and original form of this protected heritage. On the basis of the ASI report, the police had registered a case and initiated action. It is alleged that the mosque committee got work done in the mosque as per their wish, while this building comes under the protection of ASI and any kind of change or construction work without permission is illegal.

During Zafar Ali's appearance in court on Tuesday, additional security forces were deployed in the court premises and surrounding areas. It is known that Zafar Ali is also accused in the Sambhal violence case and is lodged in Moradabad jail. His junior lawyers gathered in the court premises to see Zafar Ali, whom Zafar Ali greeted by waving his hand. Zafar Ali was presented in the court under tight police security and sent back to Moradabad jail.
