News Topical, Digital Desk : The lower house of Russia's parliament will vote on Tuesday to approve a key defense agreement with India. The vote on the India-Russia Reciprocal Logistics Exchange (RELOS) will come ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to India.
Putin's visit begins Thursday. According to parliamentary sources, the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, will vote on the proposal on Tuesday. The RELOS agreement aims to facilitate coordination for joint military exercises, disaster relief, and other tasks.
The key defence agreement was signed in Moscow on February 18, 2025 by Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar and then Deputy Defence Minister Alexander Fomin to enhance military cooperation between the two privileged strategic partners.
Russian President will visit India on Thursday
The Russian President is scheduled to visit India for a two-day annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The talks are expected to yield significant outcomes, including in the areas of trade and defense, further strengthening bilateral strategic ties.
According to ANI, in an interview in Gurugram, Ajay Malhotra, India's former ambassador to Russia, said the Russian leader's visit is a sign of India's independent foreign policy. The visit reaffirms the long-standing, deep and close partnership between the two countries.
