According to the information, both the accused in Rakesh murder case were produced in the court and taken on remand. At night, both the accused Vinod and Shanni were sleeping in the lockup of Model Town police station of the city. During this time, accused Vinod kept a sheet on top and tore the rag of the blanket on which he was sleeping and when he got a chance, he committed suicide by hanging himself in the iron mesh inside the lockup.

' Rakesh was murdered on 3 September'

According to the police, Vinod and his friend Shanni were arrested for the murder of Rakesh, a resident of Jaunpur. The incident took place on September 3. The three lived in the same room and had a dispute over vacating the room. After the dispute, the three drank alcohol together, after which Vinod and Shanni together killed Rakesh.

DSP gave information

On Saturday itself, Rewari Police DSP Surendra Sheoran had informed about the arrest of Vinod and Shanni in a press conference. Both were taken into custody on the charge of murder. But on Sunday, Vinod ended his life by hanging himself in the lockup.

Post mortem will be done in presence of magistrate

As soon as the incident was reported, the police took Vinod's body to Rewari Civil Hospital, where his post-mortem will be conducted in the presence of a magistrate. Model Town police said that an investigation into the case has been started.

Subham said that such a death in police custody is a great negligence on the part of the police. The family appealed to the Haryana government to give proper compensation. The deceased has two young daughters and his wife is suffering from cancer.
