News Topical, Digital Desk : The VIP culture at the Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, the famous abode of Lord Krishna in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, has now come to an end. The Supreme Court-appointed High Power Management Committee agreed on two important proposals in its fourth meeting and issued written orders. These include completely discontinuing the VIP darshan slip system and extending the temple's darshan hours.

This will allow millions of devotees to have equal access to Thakurji's darshan, while also improving crowd management. Locals were opposed to VIP darshan at the temple.

unanimous consent

These decisions were made at a committee meeting held in the Mathura Collectorate auditorium on September 11th, chaired by retired Justice Ashok Kumar. After discussion in the presence of committee members, servitors, and local officials, all agreed to these proposals. These orders have now been sent to the temple management, and within a day or two, the arrangements will be implemented by informing the Rajbhog and Shayan Bhoga servitors.

High Power Committee member Dinesh Goswami stated that the orders have been issued. The temple office will inform the servitors as soon as the documents are received. This will allow devotees to have longer darshan times, and the elimination of the VIP system will ensure equality.

Ordinary devotees will face problems

With the discontinuation of VIP tickets, no special categories of devotees will receive separate darshan. Previously, this arrangement was limited to the wealthy and influential, resulting in long waits for ordinary devotees. Now, everyone will queue for darshan, reducing chaos within the temple complex. Additionally, separate entrance and exit gates will be created, and police deployment will be increased, along with private guards.

IIT Roorkee will conduct the audit

An audit will also be conducted by IIT Roorkee to ensure the structural strength of the temple building. A special committee consisting of an auditor, a civil judge, and a Goswami has been formed to open the closed room next to the sanctum sanctorum.

The increase in darshan timings will provide more opportunities for devotees. According to the new timings:

  • Morning Darshan: 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
  • Evening Darshan: 4:15 pm to 9:30 pm.

These changes have been made for the convenience of devotees, especially during festivals. Additionally, live streaming will be implemented outside the temple, allowing devotees living far away to view the deity from their homes. Goswami said these changes will simplify and inclusively worship the deity. These rules will soon be implemented at the temple.
