News Topical, Digital Desk : The Malayalam film "Loka: Chapter 1 - Chandra," starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has received widespread praise since its release. The film is receiving even more praise for its portrayal of a female superhero. Following its box office success, rumors began circulating that it would soon be released on OTT platforms.
There was controversy regarding the film
After the film's theatrical release, a dialogue sparked controversy. In one scene, actor Sandy, who plays the villainous Inspector Nachiappa Gowda—a misogynistic character—tells his mother that he doesn't want to marry a girl from Bangalore because they are characterless. This dialogue did not resonate with audiences.
Dialogue removed from the film
In the film, he was heard saying, "I'm not saying I won't marry. But I won't marry any girl from this city because they're all cheap," a comment that many Karnataka residents found offensive. Furthermore, the film portrays Bengaluru in a negative light, with users saying the city is portrayed as a "hub of parties and drugs." Following the controversy, Dulquer Salmaan Khan announced that it would be removed from the film.

Addressing the rumors, Dulquer wrote on his X handle on Sunday, September 21, "Loka is not coming to OTT anytime soon. Ignore fake news and stay tuned for official announcements! #Loka."
