
News Topical, Digital Desk : A rare Maha Kumbhabhishekam is going to be held after 270 years in the famous Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple of Kerala. This will happen on June 8. Officials gave information in this regard. It is being told that the long pending renovation work in this temple has been completed in recent times.
After its completion, the temple will have a grand Maha Kumbhabhishekam (grand consecration) next week. According to the priests living in the temple, the purpose of this ritual is to strengthen the spiritual energy and rekindle the sanctity of the temple.
A special ritual will be held after 270 years
Let us tell you that this special kind of Maha-Anushthan is going to happen after 270 years. Temple manager B. Srikumar told in this regard that such extensive renovation and related rituals are being done in the centuries-old temple after a gap of more than 270 years and it is unlikely to happen again in the next several decades.
He further said that 'Mahakumbhabhishekam' ritual will be held on June 8 at the temple premises. He further said that various rituals will be performed as part of this event, including consecration of the newly constructed 'Thajikakudams' (three above the sanctum sanctorum and one above the Ottakkal Mandapam), re-installation of the idol of Viswasen and 'Ashtabandha Kalasam' at the Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna temple (located in the main temple premises).
The renovation work of the temple was done on the orders of the Supreme Court
Speaking to news agency PTI, temple manager B Sreekumar said the restoration work has been carried out as per the directions of a Supreme Court-appointed expert panel in 2017. Though the work had begun soon after, it could not proceed due to the Covid situation.
He further said that extensive renovation and related rituals are being carried out at the temple after centuries. It is a rare opportunity for devotees of Lord Padmanabha across the world to witness these rituals after so many years. Various rituals including Acharya Varanam, Prasad Shuddhi, Dhara, Kalasam and others will be performed at the temple in the coming days before the "Mahakumbhabhishekam" on June 8.
