
News Topical, Digital Desk : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a Tata Advanced Systems manufacturing unit in the African country during his two-day visit to Morocco starting today (September 21). This wheeled armoured platform manufacturing facility in Berrechid will be India's first defence manufacturing facility in Africa.
Agreements will be signed between the two sides on cooperation in the defence sector
The two sides are also expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the defense sector, the Defense Ministry said. Indian Navy ships have been regularly calling at the port of Casablanca in recent years, and this agreement will further strengthen such ties.
Rajnath Singh to hold meeting with Moroccan Defence Minister
During the visit, Rajnath Singh will hold a bilateral meeting with his Moroccan counterpart, Abdellatif Loudhiy. He will also meet Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade, Riad Mezouar, to explore opportunities for industrial cooperation.
This is the first time an Indian Defence Minister is visiting Morocco.
Rajnath Singh's visit to Morocco will be the first visit by an Indian Defence Minister to the country. The Defence Ministry said the facility is the first Indian defence manufacturing plant in Africa, reflecting the growing global presence of India's defence industry under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
