Udaipur: Devraj, a 10th class student who was injured in a stabbing incident in Udaipur, Rajasthan, died on Monday after struggling between life and death for four days. After the death of the student, tension spread in the city, due to which the police have imposed Section 144 and shut down internet services. Devraj's family is inconsolable due to his death.
Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal said that the student's sister had tied a Rakhi on Devraj's wrist in the hospital shortly before his death, news agency PTI reported.
Student's funeral held
The body of the student was taken to the mortuary for postmortem, after which the body was handed over to the family. The student was cremated on Tuesday morning. The incident took place on Friday when Ayan Sheikh, a class 10 student of a government school, stabbed Devraj, leaving him badly injured.
Accused student taken into custody
Following this incident, communal tension spread in Udaipur and a mob of people set cars on fire and pelted stones. The accused student has been taken into custody and his father has been arrested.
Heavy police force deployed in the area
After the death of the student, considering the sensitivity of the incident, the district collector, SP and other senior officials reached the hospital to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, heavy police force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
Hindu organizations protested the stabbing
At the same time, after the incident, many Hindu organizations also protested against the stabbing, which further increased communal tension in the area. Seeing the unrest in the city, the district administration took immediate action and tried to calm the situation.
Student Ayan's house was demolished using JCB
Police officials demolished the house of the accused student Ayan using a JCB machine. Officials said that the house was built on forest land, so it was demolished as per the existing rules.
