News Topical, Digital Desk : Rajasthan Politics: The controversy over the change in the Waqf law on the occasion of Bakrid prayers in Rajasthan has heated up further. After offering prayers at the Idgah in the capital Jaipur on Saturday (7 June) morning, Congress MLA and party's chief whip in the assembly Rafiq Khan gave a controversial statement. He called the Waqf law unconstitutional and threatened the government to face the consequences. At that time thousands of people were present at the Idgah. Now the BJP has retaliated.
BJP's state general secretary and MLA Jitendra Gothwal countered Rafiq Khan's statement and said, "Congress MLA Rafiq Khan is a land mafia. Because of this, he is afraid of getting harmed due to the new Waqf law. That is why he has made such statements at the time of Bakrid prayers in Idgah."
'Rafiq Khan will have to pay the price for his statement'
BJP MLA Jitendra Gothwal alleged that Congress MLA Rafiq Khan has spread hatred even on the occasion of Bakrid festival. He said, "It is not the central government but Congress MLA Rafiq Khan himself who will have to bear the brunt of bringing the Waqf law. He will have to bear the brunt of this statement given on the occasion of the festival."
Congress's job is to provoke and mislead- Gothwal
The BJP leader further said, "The freedom that the Congress MLA has talked about, the people will give him that freedom in the next elections. It has become the nature of the Congress party and its leaders that they do not leave even the occasion of festivals and work to provoke and mislead people even on that occasion. Such threatening statements on the occasion of the festival of Bakrid amidst a crowd of thousands at the Idgah are not at all appropriate."
