News Topical, Digital Desk : A Hindu youth was shot dead in a minor dispute in Badin, Sindh province, Pakistan. The incident sparked widespread protests across Pakistan. Protesters staged sit-ins on the Badin-Hyderabad National Highway and the Badin-Thar Kol Road. According to a report by Pakistani news outlet 'The Nation', Hindu youth Kailash Kolhi was murdered by an influential landowner Sarfaraz Nizamani over the construction of a hut on his land.

What is the whole matter?

Kolhi worked as a farm laborer on Sarfraz Nizamani's farm. He had built a makeshift hut (slum) on the farm for his family to live in. Nizamani was upset about this, and a dispute arose over this matter, leading to his shooting and killing him.

Slogans of Jai Shri Ram echoed in the protest

The protesters demanded justice for Kolhi's murder and vowed not to end the sit-in until the culprits were arrested, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded for hours. Thousands of men, women, and children demonstrated, carrying posters and placards. The most prominent and resonant refrain during the protest was the chanting of "Jai Shri Ram."

The protesters made it clear that they would not tolerate the injustice inflicted on a minority. Men, women, elderly people, and innocent children filled the streets with one voice and one demand: Arrest the killer.

Earlier, the victim's family and community members staged a protest by placing the body at the Piru Lashari stop, where SSP Badin assured them that the accused would be arrested within 24 hours. Despite assurances from district police officials, the main accused has yet to be arrested.
