News Topical, Digital Desk : The Pakistan government faced embarrassment in the National Assembly on Thursday as the government failed to secure the required quorum to pass a crucial money bill. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers halted the legislative process midway. The trouble began when a motion moved by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb to pass the Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2024 was rejected by 67-32 votes.

Pakistan could not complete the quorum

The 336-member House was present, far short of the 84 required for a quorum. After Deputy Speaker Ghulam Mustafa Shah announced the number of members, PTI members walked out en masse. When the session resumed half an hour later, the government was still unable to meet the quorum, leading to it being adjourned.
