News Topical, Digital Desk : Earthquake tremors were felt in Pakistan on Friday-Saturday. According to the information, earthquake tremors were felt at around 01.44 pm. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) said that an earthquake of 4.0 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Pakistan today at 01.44 am (IST). The earthquake tremors caused panic among the people. However, there is no news of any loss of life or property due to this earthquake. The earthquake's tremors were felt in various parts of the region, though no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties have been confirmed.
The earth started shaking due to earthquake late at night in Pakistan. People sleeping in their homes started running out of panic. The intensity of this earthquake was measured 4.0 on the Richter scale. This earthquake occurred at 1.44 am late night. At present there is no news of any kind of damage. The administration is monitoring the situation. Citizens have been appealed to maintain patience and contact the concerned authorities in case of any emergency. 

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) said that today at 01.44 pm (IST) an earthquake of 4.0 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Pakistan. According to NCS, the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, whose latitude was 29.67 North and longitude 66.10 East. Earlier on May 5, 2025, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 also occurred in Pakistan and the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, whose latitude was 36.60 North and longitude 72.89 East. 

When did the earthquake occur?

Earlier, strong earthquake tremors were felt in Pakistan on 12 April. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 5.8 on the Richter scale. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir. It was reported that on 12 April at around 1 pm, an earthquake of 5.8 magnitude on the Richter scale occurred at 33.63 degrees north latitude and 72.46 degrees east longitude.

The earthquake caused devastation

It is noteworthy that earthquakes have caused a lot of devastation in Pakistan. On October 8, 2005, at 8.50 am, an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck, with its epicentre in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK). More than 80,000 people were killed on both sides of the Line of Control (LOC). Tremors were also felt in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, India and Xinjiang region. It was the fifth deadliest natural disaster of the decade.

The official number of people killed in this earthquake in Pakistan was between 73,276 and 87,350, while some estimates put the death toll at more than 1,00,000. In India, 1,360 people were killed, while 6,266 people were injured. Four people died in Afghanistan. In the 2005 earthquake, 3.5 lakh people became homeless, about 1,38,000 people were injured.
