New Delhi: Amid a heated exchange between ruling and opposition members over the Waqf Amendment Bill, three Muslim organisations affiliated to the RSS on Friday supported the proposed amendments in the Waqf Act before a parliamentary committee.
As the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Parishad, the RSS-affiliated Rashtriya Muslim Manch and NGO Bharat First made separate presentations before the joint committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, some opposition members tried to find faults in their claims.
In the meeting, Shiv Sena Shinde faction member Naresh Mhaske told the opposition members that they should be ready to listen to the other side. After this suggestion, there was a brief altercation between the NDA and the opposition.
Some opposition members asked, 'Are the Sufi Shah Malang sect's fakirs who appeared before the committee a part of the Muslim community?' Along with this, the committee is going to visit Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru between September 26 and October 1 to meet various stakeholders.
