News Topical, Digital Desk : It's said in Uttar Pradesh politics that whoever wins Purvanchal finds the journey to Lucknow easier. Among these, Varanasi, the largest center of Purvanchal, has eight assembly seats. Varanasi is also considered one of the country's most high-profile constituencies because it is Narendra Modi 's parliamentary constituency. Consequently, every assembly seat here becomes a prestige battle. If the Samajwadi Party (SP) demonstrates itself strongly here, it can send a strong message to the public that the people of Varanasi are unhappy with the BJP. This will also boost the morale of its workers.

This is why the political battle for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has already begun in Varanasi. Of the four assembly seats in the urban area of Varanasi district, the Samajwadi Party already has its sights set on two of these seats. These seats are the North and South Assembly seats of Varanasi. According to information received from a Samajwadi Party official, the party has a particular focus on the South and North Assembly seats in the urban area of Varanasi district.

Why are these seats so important for SP?

In fact, victory on these two seats depends not just on the candidate, but on the party's ground organization. This is why the Samajwadi Party wants to focus on these two seats and strengthen its urban presence. The key point is that there are mixed voters here, so no single factor matters. Only the right candidate and the right caste equation can create a chance of victory. The current MLA for the North Assembly seat is Ravindra Jaiswal, who is also a cabinet minister. Jaiswal defeated the Samajwadi Party candidate in the 2022 assembly elections by a margin of 40,776 votes. However, this time, the North Assembly constituency has seen the highest number of voter exclusions.

A BJP MLA won the South Assembly seat, but the contest was extremely close. This time, there are numerous issues, from Gyanvapi to Dal Mandi and traders, on which the Samajwadi Party will make every effort to attract voters. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party has dominated these seats for decades. SP leaders are already keeping a close eye on voters from all walks of life in these seats.

The fight for ticket claims begins

The scramble for tickets for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections has already begun. Regarding these two assembly seats, information suggests that eight candidates each are already vying for tickets. This includes a Muslim candidate from the northern assembly constituency. However, it remains to be seen which candidates the Samajwadi Party will trust in the future.
