News Topical, Digital Desk : A two-wheeler stolen three months ago has been recovered in Hyderabad due to a traffic challan. This happened after the vehicle owner received a traffic challan containing the thief's photo. Faisal Rehman then posted on X on April 7th that he had received a challan for his scooter, which had been stolen approximately three months earlier.
Clue found from the photo printed in the challan
Faisal also shared a photo of the thief, which was printed on the challan. In the photo, the man was seen driving without a helmet. Rahman further explained that a case had already been registered at the police station. He then tagged the Hyderabad Traffic Police and Hyderabad City Police, and the post quickly went viral.
According to reports, the stolen scooter was first reported on January 24th. The challan for the vehicle was issued on March 1st, but Faisal only learned about it this week. Police stated that the investigation into the case was already underway and expressed concern that the social media post could alert the suspect, making it more difficult to find him.
Immediate action taken after posting online
Habib Nagar Station House Officer T. Purushottam Rao said Faisal didn't inform him directly about the challan, but instead posted it online. After the post surfaced, special teams were sent to examine CCTV footage and locate the vehicle. The search concluded on Thursday when police found the scooter and detained the person driving it.
After being recovered, the scooter was brought to the Habib Nagar police station, and further legal action has been initiated. Police are now investigating whether the person driving the vehicle was the main thief, or someone who had unknowingly purchased the stolen vehicle.
After the vehicle was recovered, Rahman thanked the police in another post. He said, "Our friendly police are really great. They have recovered the stolen vehicle." He expressed his gratitude to the police for this.
