New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Monday the case of rape and murder of a woman doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra will hear the case on September 9, which was initiated by the apex court itself. The CBI will submit its status report before the court today regarding this case.
CISF is not getting support from Bengal government: Centre
The Centre has recently filed an application in the apex court, alleging non-cooperation by the Bengal government with the CISF, which is tasked with providing security at the hospital. In its application, the Union Home Ministry has sought directions to the state authorities to extend full cooperation to the CISF.
The court had reprimanded the Kolkata Police
On August 22, while hearing the Kolkata brutality case, the Supreme Court had reprimanded the Kolkata Police for the delay in registering the unnatural death of the doctor. The court had made an emotional appeal to the protesting doctors and asked them to return to work and said that justice and medicine cannot be stopped. Apart from this, the court had said that it is issuing all necessary instructions to ensure their safety.
