A group of BJP MLAs from Goa met DGP Alok Kumar on Thursday. They complained to the DGP and alleged that tourists coming to the state are harassed by the traffic police.
Police accused of harassing tourists
The MLAs said that tourists often hire vehicles and the traffic police often harass them on the pretext of checking their documents. The MLAs also claimed that due to these reasons, the number of tourists in the state is continuously decreasing.
Complaint to DGP
BJP MLAs Michael Lobo (Calangute), Kedar Naik (Saligao) and Delilah Lobo (Siolim) met the DGP and demanded that instructions be issued to the traffic police to prevent inconvenience to tourists.
QR code based system will be started
According to the BJP MLA, the DGP has agreed to instruct the traffic police department not to harass tourists. MLA Naik informed that the DGP said that a QR code based system will be introduced so that once the documents related to the vehicle of a particular tourist are checked, the same person need not go through the same process again.
