New Delhi: Due to the political upheaval in Bangladesh, high alertness is being maintained at every level in India. The central government is concerned about the approximately 19 thousand Indians stranded in Bangladesh as well as the continuous attacks on the minority Hindus there. Due to this, there is a possibility of increased migration from Bangladesh to India.
There is also a danger of militant organizations becoming active again on the eastern border due to instability in the neighborhood. To discuss all these issues along with the current situation in Bangladesh, Home Minister Amit Shah held a high-level meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval in Parliament House on Tuesday.
Increased challenges for security agencies
The Home Secretary was also present during this time. After the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina left her country in an emergency and came to India, there is a possibility of chaos increasing on the eastern border, which has increased the challenges of the security agencies. This is the reason why every activity is being monitored closely and even the smallest incidents are being reviewed. Bangladesh has a Hindu population of more than 1 crore 30 lakhs.
Hindu temples are being vandalized by fundamentalists
After the incident, attacks on them have increased. Hindu temples are being vandalised by fundamentalists. Anarchy has spread to such an extent that the police and army of Bangladesh are in no position to do anything. Whenever fundamentalist forces have dominated the neighbouring country, a large number of its citizens have taken refuge in India. Making arrangements for such a large number of people will be a big challenge for India.
Radicals are also targeting Awami League leaders
This time, even the Awami League leaders are being targeted by the fundamentalists. Their houses are being burnt. Violence is taking place. In such a situation, they too can seek refuge in India. The international border between India and Bangladesh is more than four thousand kilometers long. This is the fifth largest land border in the world, which passes through rivers, mountains and forests. In case of increased migration, there can be many difficulties in monitoring such a long border. In such a situation, along with the infiltrators, the militant organizations of the Northeast can also become active again taking advantage of this and carry out some incident. It is said that such review meetings will be held almost on a daily basis. The security forces have been asked to be vigilant as well as sensitive.
