News Topical, Digital Desk : For actors working in films, receiving a National Film Award is a great honor. But Harsh Mayar is one such actor who, at just 13 years old, won the National Film Award for Best Child Actor with his debut film.

Despite winning such a prestigious award, Harsh still faced discrimination within the industry. In an exclusive interview with Jagran, he revealed that nepotism had cost him several films and roles.

Nepotism snatched many films

Harsh was asked if he ever lost a role or a film due to nepotism. He replied, “This has happened to many big actors, and it's a common occurrence in the industry. A degree isn't required here. You can make 5-6 films with your life's savings, but ultimately, the audience will decide. They only like those who have something special. There are many children of big actors who haven't achieved anything.”

He further said, "In the end, only those who have something will succeed. You just have to work hard. There are big stars who don't know how to act." When Harsh was asked if he had personally faced this, he replied, "Yes, many times." However, Harsh did not share any specific anecdote.

Won the National Award with his first film

Harsh Mayar began his career as a child actor in the film I Am Kalam, for which he received the National Film Award for Best Child Actor. He has since worked in numerous films and shows, from theater to OTT platforms. He received immense love from audiences for his show Gullak, which he revealed will soon have a fifth season. He is currently busy promoting his upcoming film One Two Cha Cha Cha, which is scheduled to release on January 16, 2026.
