News Topical, Digital Desk : All tiger reserves and national parks across Madhya Pradesh opened to tourists on Wednesday for the new tourist season. The opening of Kuno National Park, the country's first habitat for cheetahs, proved a special moment for both tourists and management.
Kuno's gates have been opened to tourists for the first time since the leopards were introduced three years ago, and there are now a large number of leopards in the open forest. A safari in the forest offers tourists the opportunity to observe leopards up close.
Tourists riding in gypsies also seemed excited to see them, although the 12 tourists who arrived on the first day did not see the cheetah. Management says that for the first time, all three gates of the park, Tiktoli, Ahera, and Pipalbaori, were opened for tourists.
Coconuts were broken at the entrances, and tourists were welcomed with garlands and tilak. Kuno was granted national park status in 2018, and on September 17, 2022, after cheetahs were brought here from Namibia, it achieved the distinction of being the first home to cheetahs in India.
While Asha, Jwala, and Gamini cheetahs roam the open forests of Kuno with their cubs, Agni and Vayu, male cheetahs, have been roaming here for a long time. The eight cheetahs in the enclosure may also be released into the wild soon.
Project Cheetah Director Uttam Kumar Sharma said that of the 24 cheetahs in the park, 16 are in the open forest, and tourists are no longer restricted from visiting their area. The core area is also open to tourists.
Adarsh Gupta, a tourist, said that he was the first to arrive with his friends when the park opened, although he didn't see any leopards. He's excited to see the leopards and will return again and visit the core area.
