A study published in JAMA Network revealed that the capital city of Delhi has the highest number of cancer cases in men in the whole of India. This research also revealed that the most common cancers in men include lung, oral and prostate cancer  . On the other hand, breast, cervical and ovarian cancer are the most common in women.

The data revealed in the research has increased everyone's concern, because among the metros, Delhi is on top with the highest number of cancer cases. At the same time, the highest number of lung cancer cases in the country are reported from Srinagar. In such a situation, the question arises that why is there such an increase in cancer cases in Delhi. Some of the reasons for this can be as follows-

  • Air Pollution: Delhi's severe Air Quality Index is a major reason for the rising number of cancer cases among both men and women. It also leads to many other diseases.
  • Inactive lifestyle: Nowadays people do not have time for themselves in this fast-paced life. In such a situation, lack of physical activity also increases the risk of cancer. This can increase the risk of cancers like prostate and  colorectal cancer  tenfold.
  • Tobacco use: Excessive tobacco use is linked to increasing oral cancer cases in Delhi.
