News Topical, Digital Desk : The Israeli army on Tuesday averted a major threat by destroying a missile fired from Yemen in the air itself. On the other hand, Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed that they not only launched missiles but also drone attacks on Israel.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sari said on Telegram that his forces targeted Lod airport in Yafa with a "Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile".
He said the attack was successful, forcing "millions of Jews" to flee into bunkers in fear and paralyzing the airport. Israel confirmed it had intercepted the missile but did not comment on the Houthi claim of a drone attack.
Claims of drone attacks in many areas
The Houthi rebels also said in their Telegram post that they carried out drone attacks on "sensitive targets" in areas such as Yafah, Ashkelon and Umm al-Rashrash. The attacks came after the recent 12-day war between Israel and Iran in which Israel bombed Iranian military and nuclear facilities.
Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a stern warning, saying, "Yemen will get the same punishment that Tehran got." He said, "After hitting the head of the snake in Tehran, now we will teach a lesson to the Houthis in Yemen. Anyone who raises arms against Israel will have his hand chopped off."
