News Topical, Digital Desk : In a major case of GST theft, the GST department has arrested a Chinese woman and the MD of a company. The arrested accused have been identified as Chinese citizen Li Tank and the company's managing director Vinay Kumar.

 Both were arrested from Noida and presented in the Special CJM Court of Meerut on Friday. During the hearing, Lee Tank said that he would call his lawyer from Delhi. After the hearing, the court sent both the accused to judicial custody till Monday.

What did the government side say?

According to the government, the TV screen manufacturing company was required to pay 28% GST tax. But the company collected only 10% tax in cash through fake invoicing and did not deposit it to the government. Investigation has revealed that the company has evaded GST worth about Rs 9.5 crore so far.

Apart from this, the accused are also suspected of sending about Rs 27 crore to China through hawala. Investigation of this aspect is currently underway. Lee Tank and Vinay Kumar were arrested only after the investigation of the GST department. Now the next hearing in this case will be held on Monday.

What did the officials say?

Officials say that the network and transactions of the accused are being thoroughly investigated. Details of their bank accounts and digital transactions are being scrutinized. Also, it is being investigated who else is involved in this racket. The GST department has indicated that more arrests may be made in the coming days.

Officials also said that the call details and emails of the accused are being investigated so that the entire money laundering and hawala network can be exposed. The GST department is taking action in this case in collaboration with other central agencies and big revelations are expected soon.
