News Topical, Digital Desk : North Korean leader Kim Jong Un honored the country's top officials at the conclusion of a week-long congress of the ruling Workers' Party. To celebrate his leadership, Kim Jong Un presented the country's top military and government officials with new sniper rifles.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency reported on Saturday that Kim presented rifles to senior party and military officials on Friday, symbolizing his "absolute trust" and gratitude for their commitment over the past five years since the last Workers' Party congress in 2021.

Daughter seen aiming

North Korean state media has prominently featured a photo of his daughter taking aim at a shooting range. Her increasingly prominent presence has fueled speculation that Kim is grooming her to be a future leader.

Photos showed Kim Yo Jong and other top officials taking aim at a shooting range with rifles given to them by Kim Jong Un. Kim's younger daughter, wearing a brown leather coat like her father's, was also seen handling the weapon, with smoke billowing from the barrel.

Kim Jong Un's powerful sister

Kim Jong Un's powerful sister, Kim Yo Jong, who has been his staunch spokesperson in Washington and Seoul in recent years, will now serve as the general affairs director of the party's Central Committee after being promoted at the congress, news agency AP reported.

The North Korean dictator's ceremony, which honors military officers every five years since 2016, is North Korea's most important political event, held every five years since 2016. It's a spectacle designed to praise Kim's leadership in front of thousands of delegates.
