News Topical, Digital Desk : A unique case of love jihad has emerged in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman lured a police constable into a love trap and pressured him to convert to Islam and marry her. Police have arrested the accused woman in this case. Further legal action is underway. 

Constable Shrikant, posted with the Dial 112 service in Baghpat, filed a complaint in this regard at the Khekra police station on Saturday, April 11. According to the complaint filed with the police, the constable alleged that he met the accused woman, Hina alias Mubasreen, a resident of Delhi, while posted in Ghaziabad in 2022. They subsequently became friends. 

The woman pressured him to convert to another religion.

The police constable claimed that the woman later pressured him to recite the Kalma at a shrine and convert to Islam and marry her. The complainant alleged that when he refused, she threatened to implicate him in a rape case, forcing him to convert and marry her.

The victim alleged that the woman was constantly blackmailing him and had extorted lakhs of rupees from him. She pressured him to convert to Islam, threatening to prevent him from being implicated in the rape case if he did so. 

Police arrested the accused woman

According to police, the woman allegedly took the constable to a mosque in Delhi, where documents related to his conversion were prepared. She also allegedly pressured him to participate in religious activities and join the Jamaat.

Additional Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh Chauhan said that in the case, an FIR has been registered under the relevant provisions including sections of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion Act, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act and Information Technology Act. 

Taking action in this case, the police arrested the accused woman on Saturday, after which she was produced in the court, from where she was sent to judicial custody.
