News Topical, Digital Desk : India's Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar has told his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in clear words that there is no place for interference or interests of any third country (Pakistan) in India-China relations. According to a Hindustan Times report, Jaishankar said this in a meeting with Wang Yi on July 14, where they discussed the direction of relations between the two countries after China's intrusion on the LAC in eastern Ladakh in 2020. Jaishankar expressed happiness in this meeting that after the agreement reached in October 2024, the Indian Army has started patrolling the Depsang and Demchok areas again.

'Stable border is the foundation of India-China relations'

During the meeting with Yi, Jaishankar said that a stable border is the foundation of India-China relations. The Foreign Minister also suggested that now the armies of both the countries should focus on reducing tensions, as 5 years have passed since the 2020 Galwan clash and intrusion on the LAC. Let us tell you that about 50,000 soldiers, tanks and heavy weapons are still deployed on both sides. Jaishankar also told Wang Yi that China should ensure a reliable supply chain for India and should not impose export restrictions on essential goods. Recently, China had imposed an export ban on magnets and potassium-nitrogen fertilizers used in the auto industry, which has affected India.

Jaishankar took a tough stand on terrorism

In the meeting, Jaishankar made it clear that India-China relations should not revolve around any third country. This statement is important because China supplies 81% of military weapons to Pakistan. These weapons, which include missiles and aircraft, were recently used extensively in Pakistan's Operation Sindoor. In the SCO foreign ministers' meeting on July 13, Jaishankar took a tough stand on terrorism. He said that the purpose of the SCO is to fight terrorism, separatism and extremism.

Jaishankar and Wang met in a good atmosphere

Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, Jaishankar said that India's action on terrorist bases in Pakistan was in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 16050. This resolution was approved by all countries including Pakistan, China and Russia. This resolution describes terrorism as the biggest threat to global peace and calls for punishment of those responsible for terrorism. The meeting between Jaishankar and Wang Yi was cordial. Both leaders agreed to work towards improving India-China relations.
