News Topical, Digital Desk : Seven Buddhist monks, including an Indian, were killed and six others injured when a cable-assisted rail cart overturned while they were visiting a monastery in northwestern Sri Lanka.

The incident occurred Wednesday night at the renowned Buddhist monastery Na Uyana Aranya Senasanaya in Nikaweratiya, 125 kilometers from Colombo. It is known for its meditation retreats and attracts practitioners from around the world. The deceased monks include an Indian, a Russian, and a Romanian national. Four of the six injured are in critical condition.
