
News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid the rapidly changing situation between India and Pakistan, it is reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken to Pakistani PM Shahbaz Sharif. Earlier, he had a phone conversation with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.
In both calls the Foreign Minister emphasised the need for immediate de-escalation of tensions and called for an end to the violence.
He emphasized US support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications.
Expressed condolences over Pahalgam terrorist attack
Apart from this, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and stressed on direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and said that America will work together with India in the fight against terrorism. He also reiterated his condolences on the Pahalgam terrorist attack.

This conversation with Jaishankar took place just hours before Pakistan launched missile and drone attacks on major Indian cities. However, military tensions between the two countries have increased significantly since these attacks.
Late Thursday night, air raid sirens sounded in cities of Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir and a blackout was ordered to protect civilian and military infrastructure.
