News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is alive but is being mentally tortured , his sister Dr. Uzma Khanum claimed on Tuesday after a 20-minute meeting with him in Adiala Jail (Rawalpindi). This statement comes amid rumors about his health and safety in recent weeks.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr. Uzma Khanum said, “ Alhamdulillah, he is fine... but he is very angry that he is being mentally harassed. He is kept locked in a cell all day, is only allowed out for short periods of time, and is not allowed to talk to anyone. ”

Munir was held responsible

He said that Imran Khan has blamed General Asim Munir for his situation , who now has complete control over the army and who is said to have given lifelong security to himself, other army chiefs and President Asif Ali Zardari by amending the constitution.

The family has been denied visitation permission for the past few weeks, fueling rumors. Meanwhile, Imran Khan supporters staged demonstrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, prompting authorities to ban large gatherings, but protests continued outside the Islamabad High Court.

Deep concern over safety and health

Last month, Imran Khan's three sisters - Naureen Niazi, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan - had alleged that they were manhandled when they sought permission to meet their brother.

Imran Khan's sons also expressed concern. They said the prison administration was concealing something irreversible. His son, Qasim Khan, told Reuters that despite court-ordered weekly visits, the family had been unable to have direct contact. The family also said Imran Khan's personal doctor had been repeatedly prevented from visiting him in prison.

The 25-day period without meeting raised suspicions.

Prior to today's meeting, no family or Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI) leader had been allowed to meet Imran Khan for 25 days. This led to rumors of his death spreading on social media, with speculation that the government was hiding the truth, fearing a potential public outcry.

PTI Senator Khurram Zeshan claimed on Sunday that Imran Khan is being isolated and pressured to leave the country. He said the government is afraid of his popularity and is therefore not releasing any photos or videos.

Rumours swirl amid Pak-Afghan tensions

Imran Khan, 72, has been in prison since August 2023. Rumors of his death were first spread by social media accounts operating in Afghanistan, at a time when Pakistan and Afghanistan are embroiled in military tensions over a border dispute.
