News Topical, Digital Desk : Award-winning composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan has sung many great songs. These include "Maa" from "Taare Zameen Par" and "Mitwa" from "Bunty Aur Babli." The singer also sang "Kajra Re" from "Bunty Aur Babli." He shared a very interesting story behind it in a podcast.
Shankar calls Amitabh cute
In an interview with Humans of Bombay All India Mehfil, Shankar revealed that Amitabh Bachchan once threatened him during a song recording. Recalling that moment with the cast of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Shankar said, “I still remember being on set with Bachchan sir and he was shooting a rock and roll song. Imagine, I weigh so much, and he lifted me because he was so happy. He's incredibly sweet and was so happy with the song that he hugged me and said, 'Wow! What a song!'”
Refused to do dubbing
Shankar further said that Javed Ali had dubbed Abhishek's part for Kajra Re. I had to sing for Amitabh. When I met him at a function, I said, 'Sir, come and dub your part, we have to mix the song.' He asked which song, and I said 'Kajra Re'. He said, 'So what should I dub in that?' I said, 'Sir, I have kept your parts for dubbing.' He had already shot the song, and he liked it very much. He said, 'No, it will be like this. If you touch it, you will see, I will ruin your career.'
The film came in the year 2005
"Kajra Re" is one of Bollywood's most famous dance numbers from the 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli. Sung by Alka Yagnik, Shankar Mahadevan, and Javed Ali, the song became an instant hit. It was especially filmed on Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
