News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has endorsed former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's independent candidate for the New York City mayoral post, urging voters not to elect Zohran Mamdani, the left-wing Democratic Party candidate.
Trump warned that if Indian-origin Mamdani wins the mayoral election on Tuesday, it would be an economic and social disaster.
'I can't send money'
In a post on Truth Social, Trump also said that if New Yorkers vote for Mamdani, he will limit federal funds to New York City.
He wrote, “If Communist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the election for Mayor of New York City, it is highly unlikely that I will be able to contribute union funds, beyond the minimum amount required for my beloved First Home.”
"Communists coming to power will worsen the situation."
Trump further wrote, "A communist coming to power could make things even worse, and I don't want to continue wasting money as President. It is my responsibility to run the country, and I am confident that if Mamdani wins, New York City will be completely ruined economically and socially. His theories have been tested for over a thousand years and have never worked."
