A family member of the BSF jawan said, "We thank the central government and BSF officials for their efforts to bring him back safely. The last two weeks have been full of sleepless nights and uncertainty for us. We were constantly worried about his health. Now we are eagerly waiting to talk to him and see him in person. Our prayers have finally been answered." A BSF spokesperson said the transfer was done peacefully and as per established protocols. what did the officer say
Officials told PTI that the jawan will undergo a thorough investigation and medical check-up followed by counselling and a 'debriefing' session where BSF officers will ask him "relevant questions" about his 21-day detention. The jawan, from the BSF's 24th battalion, will not be inducted into active duty and will also be part of an official inquiry launched by the BSF's Punjab Frontier to probe the order of his arrest by the Rangers and find out any lapses, if any. Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to bring back the BSF jawan.
