News Topical, Digital Desk : Three Hindu candidates have won the 13th parliamentary election in Bangladesh. All of them belong to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). According to local media reports, the election comes amid growing attention to minority participation and rising concerns about communal tensions in the country.

The BNP won 211 of the 299 seats, while the Jamaat-e-Islami was reduced to just 68. Among the prominent winners was senior BNP leader Gayeswar Chandra Roy, who won from the Dhaka-3 constituency.

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy,
a BNP standing committee member and former state minister, secured 99,163 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Shahinur Islam, who received 83,264 votes. The constituency covers parts of Keraniganj, including Jinjira, Aganagar, Tegharia, Konda, and Subhadhya. Roy's victory is considered significant given recent reports of harassment and attacks targeting members of the minority Hindu community.

Nitai Roy Chowdhury
BNP Vice President Nitai Roy Chowdhury easily won the Magura-2 seat. He received 147,896 votes, surpassing Mustarshid Billah of the Jamaat-e-Islami, who received 117,018 votes. Chowdhury, who is affiliated with Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, is considered a highly influential minority figure within the BNP. His victory further reinforces the party's strong performance in minority-dominated areas.

Advocates Dipen Dewan and Saching Pru
Advocate Dipen Dewan emerged as the BNP's third Hindu winner from the Rangamati parliamentary seat, securing 31,222 votes. His nearest rival, independent candidate Pahal Chakma, secured 21,544 votes. Saching Pru is the fourth BNP candidate representing a minority community to win. Pru secured 141,455 votes from the Bandarban constituency.

Krishna Nandi lost.
In contrast, the only Hindu candidate fielded by the Jamaat alliance lost the election. Krishna Nandi, contesting the Khulna-1 seat on a Jamaat ticket, lost to the BNP candidate despite receiving 70,346 votes. No minority candidate nominated by Jamaat won in this election.
