Shimla:  Himachal Weather Today: Due to heavy rain and landslides at some places in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday, 13 houses and 17 cowsheds have been damaged. So far, a loss of Rs 802.26 crore has been incurred during the rains. 97 roads in the state are closed for traffic. NH-21 from Mandi to Kullu was blocked at 9 miles due to landslide.

Today the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in other districts except four districts Chamba, Lahaul Spiti, Kinnaur and Kullu. A warning has been issued for sudden floods at some places in Chamba, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

Kiratpur-Manali four lane remained closed for about six hours. In Lahaul Spiti district, the Darcha-Shinkula road was again flooded. While the Darcha-Shinkula-Zanskar and Udaipur-Kilad road has been closed for five days.

Heavy rain for one hour scared people

Among the closed roads are 40 in Mandi, 26 in Kullu, 15 in Shimla, six in Kangra, four in Sirmaur, two in Lahaul Spiti, two in Kinnaur and one in Chamba. Heavy rain for about an hour at many places including Shimla on Friday scared people and raised concerns.

Heavy rain warning till August 13

The weather department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in all districts till August 13. There is a flood warning in Chamba, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur till Friday. In the advisory, the weather department has asked to stay away from rivers, streams and landslide prone areas. The search for 36 people missing in the flood caused by cloudburst in Shimla, Kullu and Mandi on the night of July 31 is continuing.
