News Topical, Digital Desk : Following Nepal, Generation Z (Gen G) have taken to the streets in France. Hundreds of people protested in Lima against corruption, crime, and pension reforms. Clashes broke out as police used tear gas and protesters threw stones.

The protest was called by a group called Generation Z against the government of Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, who is facing a widespread wave of social unrest. Around 500 people gathered in the city amid a heavy police presence.

What do the protesters say?

According to a France24 report, one protester said, "Today democracy is less than it was before. It's getting worse. Because of fear, because of extortion." Meanwhile, another protester said that Congress has lost its credibility because it doesn't have a mandate.

Several officers injured

Clashes broke out in Lima after protesters tried to reach the executive and congressional buildings. Police said at least three officers were injured in the clashes.

Young adults will have to join private pension funds even though many of them face unstable work environments, according to legislation the Legislature passed this week.
