New Delhi: News of rift between successful actresses in the film industry is nothing new. Behind the scenes, some actresses do not even consider it appropriate to look at each other's face. There was a time when there was talk of cat-fight between Sharmila Tagore and Mumtaz. Once Mumtaz had said that heroines can never be friends. Now years later, she has revealed the truth behind the news of rift with Sharmila.

Mumtaz and Sharmila Tagore entered the acting world in the 50s. Both were successful actresses of their time, who worked together in the film Sawan Ki Gatha. It is said that there was no harmony between the two. Mumtaz herself had admitted in an old interview that she does not talk to Sharmila. Now she has revealed the truth.

What did Mumtaz say about the fight with Sharmila?

"I respect her a lot. She is much more educated and intelligent than me. I started working at the age of eight, so I learnt everything on the job. Be it Sharmila or any other heroine, I never got time to talk to them," Mumtaz told Rediff.

Mumtaz spoke on Sharmila's flop films

Even though Mumtaz denied the news of rift with Sharmila Tagore , she did mention the actress' flop movies. She said, "I have done more movies with Kaka (Rajesh Khanna) than Sharmilaji. By God's grace, not a single movie of mine with Kaka flopped. Sharmilaji has a flop movie with him."

Mumtaz said that Rajesh Khanna worked with Sharmila in many films, but he never spoke a word against her. However, he used to get angry when Mumtaz worked with Dharmendra or Dev Anand.
