New Delhi: The South Industry is already shaken after the Justice Hema Committee's report on the Malayalam film industry. It has exposed many hidden faces of the industry who have been accused of sexual harassment. Now the Tamil film industry has also broken its silence in this matter.

When will 'GOAT' be released?

Director Venkat Prabhu is in the news these days for his upcoming film 'GOAT'. 'Greatest of All Time' will be released on September 5. Vijay will be seen in a double role in this film. Venkat has become the first person to speak on the issue of sexual harassment in the Tamil film industry. In a conversation with NDTV, he expressed his concern about the future and demanded punishment for the culprits.

Venkat stressed on the safety of women

Venkat emphasised the need to create a safe working environment for women. "I have two daughters. We need a safe place for women," he said. He also emphasised the importance of ensuring that offenders are punished to prevent future crimes.

He further said that if the culprits are punished then people will be afraid of committing such crimes. Talking about sexual harassment, he said that women face these things everywhere, be it the media industry, IT or sports, but cinema is highlighted the most.

What happened to singer Chinmayi's case?

When specifically asked if action should be taken on the sexual harassment allegations leveled by Chinmayi against lyricist Vairamuthu and actor Radha Ravi, Venkat said that the Tamil film industry is taking steps to address these cases.
