News Topical, Digital Desk : Tesla owner and former DOGE chief Elon Musk is often accused of taking drugs. A report in the American newspaper New York Times has accused him of regularly consuming drugs like ketamine, ecstasy and psychedelic mushrooms when he was the head of the "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) in the Donald Trump administration. However, Elon Musk has called these allegations baseless.

What did Musk say?

On Saturday, Musk wrote on his social media handle X, "Let me be clear: I am not taking drugs! The New York Times is lying." He further added, “I used 'prescription' ketamine a few years ago and said the same on X, so this is nothing new. It helps get out of dark mental pits, but I haven't taken it since then.”

What did Trump say in defense of Musk?

On Friday, when a reporter asked Trump if he knew about Musk's "regular drug use", Trump replied "I didn't know." He added, "I think Elon's a wonderful person."

Musk has previously admitted to taking ketamine, saying he was prescribed the drug to treat "negative thinking" and suggesting the drug helped his work.
