Madhuri Dixit's husband Dr. Shriram Nene usually stays away from the limelight. Before marrying the actress, he lived in the US but since Madhuri wanted to focus on her career after marriage, he came to live with her in Mumbai. However, Nene's parents were very upset with this decision.

She revealed this in an interview. Dr. Nene had said that it does not matter to her if people know her as Madhuri. Now on her YouTube channel, Dr. Nene has said many things about her married life.
Dr. Nene was a heart surgeon by profession
He said, "I am Indian. I grew up in an immigrant family. My parents were definitely not happy that I was leaving the job of a heart surgeon, which is every Indian's dream, where I had great conditions, lots of friends. I was the head of the hospital. But I could operate on 3-5 patients at the most with open heart surgery and maybe 500 patients a year."
Parents expressed displeasure
He further said- My hospital staff could not believe it. My parents were also not happy with this initially. When they saw what I have done in collaboration with some start-ups, then they wanted to write some cheques.
The parents did not want Nene to quit his job because despite being an outsider, he was living his best life in America. Madhuri Dixit married Dr. Nene in the year 1999. After this, she shifted to America. However, she returned to India in the year 2007 and restarted her acting career with the film 'Aaja Nachle'. After this, her family also returned to India in 2011.
In 2011, the family decided to return to India and Madhuri announced on Twitter, 'To all my fans, we are returning to India! It will be good to be back home.'
