News Topical, Digital Desk : Delhi Organ Donation: Organ donation has been called 'Mahadaan'. Amidst the grief of losing a loved one in Delhi, the family of a 37-year-old corporate employee transformed their grief into hope for others. All this was possible through organ donation. When the employee was declared brain dead on May 12, his family took a very generous decision to donate the person's organs. This was such an important decision that it completely changed the lives of three people.
According to a TOI report, the father of the 9-year-old child was admitted to Manipal Hospital on May 1 after suffering a sudden brain hemorrhage and fainting. Despite the efforts of the ICU medical team, his life could not be saved. His wife, with the support of her family and the counselling team at the hospital, decided to bring a new ray of hope in someone's life in his memory.
Organ donation is a boon for the needy!
After the family's consent, the National Organ Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) ensured that his liver and both kidneys were donated to those who were in dire need of it. Although his heart and lungs could not be transplanted, his other organs were a boon for those in need.
3 people got new life through organ donation
Her liver gave a 61-year-old man a second chance at life and her kidneys gave a new lease of life to a 52-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman. Their lives were changed forever by the courage and kindness of one family at their worst time. Dr Srikanth Srinivasan, chairman of Manipal Institute of Critical Care Medicine, said, “The courage and compassion of the family at such a difficult time is truly inspiring and a reminder of how much impact one life can have on so many.”
