News Topical, Digital Desk : Another key ally of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition government, the Shas party, also resigned from the cabinet on Wednesday. The withdrawal of support from the government has left Netanyahu with a minority position in parliament.

Resignation due to differences

The Shas party said it was resigning because of differences over a proposed law on military recruitment. It is noteworthy that a second ultra-Orthodox party also left the government earlier this week over the same issue.

Running a minority government is now more challenging for Netanyahu

It will now become more challenging for Netanyahu to govern by leading a minority government. However, Shas has said that after leaving the coalition, it will not weaken it (Netanyahu government) and may vote with it on some laws. It will also not support its collapse.

This is a very difficult time for Israel

The party has made it clear that if the dispute over military recruitment is resolved, the way is open to return to the government. This political turmoil in the country is happening at a time when Israel and Hamas are negotiating a US-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza. However, a change in Netanyahu's government will not derail the talks.

War with Hamas continues

It is believed that the Israeli Prime Minister will now be more sensitive to the demands of his right-wing coalition partners. These allies are opposing the ending of the 21-month-long war with Hamas because despite so many attacks, this terrorist organization has not been completely wiped out.
